Call to Serve 

Minister                                                                                                                                                                J.L. Steele has been at South Knoxville since 2024. Prior to that, he served as a deacon, song leader and Bible class teacher. He is the son, grandson and great-grandson of Gospel preachers from the Ohio Valley/West Virginia area.

He is currently working to complete a Bachelor’s Degree in Biblical Studies from the Sunset International Bible Institute. HIs chapter, “Gideon – Overcoming Doubt” was published in “Our Favorite Bible Stories – Old Testament” in 2022. He is also heavily involved in the work of World Bible School and South Knoxville’s Hands & Feet Ministry.

He and his wife Lisa have lived in east Tennessee since 1997 where they have raised two daughters.
